Improvement Engine Stalling at Low Revs [TDM900]

with No Comments

Chronic disease of TDM900, Jerkiness and engine stall at low revs. If I keep turn the throttle lightly while idling, the engine stalls (Please refer my YouTube).

Because of this, I have to be careful when turning and at low-speed corners. By the way, I changed the silencer and got the same symptoms.

After doing some research on the net, I found several workarounds. There are methods such as disabling the variable intake duct, but this time I would like to clean the throttle body and see how much it improves.

Remove the side cowl.

Remove the side cover under the tank and lift the tank. Secure the lifted tank with a rope, etc. If the tank is full, it will leak, so keep it below half.

Remove the air cleaner box.

that is the throttle body.

This is what the inside looked like. It’s a little dirty. Because the blow-by gas is returned due to exhaust gas regulations, carbon adheres.

Clean with Wako’s Throttle Valve Cleaner. It seems that parts cleaner can also be used, but there is a risk that it will peel off the inner coating because it is too strong.

Oh, it removes a lot of carbon dust. By the way, do not spray the cleaner directly into the throttle body.

It became clean and done, so put it back together.

And let’s the air filter clean, too.

I started the engine and it wasn’t stall. I took a test ride after this, the low-speed jerkyness was considerably reduced and it became easy to ride.

If you have similar symptoms, please try it!
